What will Arnold do?

California's legislature passed a gay marriage bill. Will the Governator veto, sign it, or allow it to become law?

Comments:
Me personally: I couldn't care less. Let them get married for all I care.

However, those who oppose gay marriage are not inevitably "homophobic," as many gay activists will say.

If I were into laying odds, which I'm not, I would say that it's 50 to 1 that he'll sign it, 25 to one that he'll allow it to become law without his signature, and oh, I dunno, 10 to one that he'll veto.

Course, I am not sure what those ratios mean only that I think he'll probably veto it.

I wish I didn't have to lay odds on my future...

RE: Anonymous

How about you explaining how you would be affected or infact, anyone be affected by 'two fags' getting married?

Why is it that those who value marriage get all upity about same sex marriage, but quite happy to see the sacrament defiled on national television when some slag 'test drives' some blokes, then decides to marries them, like some sort of game show.

We don't have to guess any longer, Arnold announced that he will veto.

Kawai--do you think anonymous was saying he is against gay marriage, or by extension, homophobic? I think he's right that you can argue the other side without calling gay men 'fags'... though I think that such arguments don't stand up to how our country has come to view marriage legally and societally.

Kaiwai: your statement about "fags" puzzles me. As I recall, I stated Me personally: I couldn't care less. Let them get married for all I care.

CK: One can argue against gay marriage without resorting to hatred and bigotry. I'm not saying that there aren't those who resort to hatred and bigotry. All I'm saying is that it is possible (as in the case of Warren).

Um, didn't I say that?

Jake - I cannot get into personal stuff on a blog. You will have to find some other way to get in touch with me. Perhaps try a Yahoo or Gmail account.

CK,

You did say that, but you also asked do you think anonymous was saying he is against gay marriage, or by extension, homophobic?

I honestly have no idea where anybody would get the idea that I'm homophobic (as Kaiwai seems to) from my post.

Just thought I would re-state what I said earlier to ensure we were on the same page.

RE: Anonymous

1) I never labelled you as homophobic - read my posts, digest, think then reply.

2) I didn't say that people are homophobic if they appose marriage - I do class them as homophobic if they stand in the way of equality - if that is equality via legislation as to allow the recognition of same sex couples in other forms, and provide the same level of protection and recognition, I'm quite happy for the consolation prize.

3) There are certain Christian groups who even appose non-marriage formalities such as companies offering same sex couples the same benefits as married couples; why do they see that as such a threat? that is bigotry and blackmail it is worst form.

How many of these people actually KNOW a same sex couple, outside the lispy, flamboyant media stereotype? I'd say, they'd be hard pressed to even know one.

Maybe if these fundamentalist stepped out side their borg like collective, and saw everyone as individuals, they just might actually open their eyes and realise that same sex couples are not the devil on earth, they aren't the spawn of Satan, they're merely two people who love each other.

Yep, same page. I was trying for some irony with the "by extension", but I think it fell flat on its face.

I just didn't want to be labeled heterophobic, so I thought I'd clarify:)

'Nuf said on this post for me.
